1. Give the Gift of Life!
Donate blood. This one hits very close to home for Dr. Brickey and his family. That’s why we have put it first on our list. We have selected ARUP Blood Services as a collection center because they happen to be the sole blood provider to:
Of the 48 hospitals using blood in Utah, these five hospitals require approximately 25 percent of all the blood transfused in this state. In using ARUP, you may appreciate that the blood you donate stays here in Utah, and will help others in our community.
Visit www.utahblood.org to set up an appointment.
P.S. If you’re not already, please become an Organ Donor. We can help you sign up at the office any time. Just ask us how or go to www.yesutah.org.
2. Give the Gift of Food!
Donate to our local food pantry. We are making it super easy for you! We have doanation bins in our office. When you come to your next appointment, all you have to do is bring a can or two!…. or a case?? (Don’t bring beer. We can’t guarantee it will make it out of our office.)
Did you know?…. 444,000 Utahns, (1 in 6) are at risk of missing a meal every day. Even more alarming, 1 in 5 Utah children are unsure where their next meal is coming from. Last year the Utah Food Bank distributed over 37.5 million pounds of food, the equivalent of over 31 million meals, to people facing hunger across the state.
Please help Natural Smiles Dentistry as we serve those in the Salt Lake City area who are in dire need and looking for food. Please, no candy. Dr. Tom will eat it all.
3. Give Your Time!
If a monetary gift is just not in your budget this year, consider donating your time during the holiday season. You can stop in at the local soup kitchen (https://dinneratvinnys.org) or spend your Thanksgiving serving dinner to your city’s homeless population (http://rescuesaltlake.org). You may chose to help a family member or a good friend by providing a listening ear or playing a game of cards. You may chose to make your own christmas cards and write a meaningful message to share. Giving your personal, precious time (that the majority of us think we have none of!) to reach out can be just as valuable as a monetary donation. Psychologists say that experiences, not things, leave a longer impression in people’s minds and hearts! And remember, it is often the Giver that receives a greater reward than the one receiving! The warmth in your heart knowing that you made another person feel appreciated and valued.
Let’s start the season off right!!!!! Happy Holidays!
